Most setup firms manage the licence well and everything either side of it badly. Here is the full journey, from the first WhatsApp enquiry to the Emirates ID collection and the renewal a year later, and where the value actually leaks out.
Business setup consultancies are usually good at the middle of the journey. The licence gets issued, the visa gets stamped, the work gets done. The losses happen at the two ends: before the client says yes, and after they have stopped needing you for a while.
The front end: enquiries that go cold
Enquiries arrive from everywhere. A WhatsApp message to a consultant's personal number, a website form, a call, a referral from an accountant, a walk-in. Each channel lands somewhere different and none of them lands anywhere permanent.
The result is predictable. Enquiries that arrive on a busy day get answered late. Enquiries that arrive to a consultant on leave do not get answered at all. And nobody can say which source produced the clients who actually paid, so marketing spend is guesswork.
The fix is unglamorous: every enquiry becomes a lead record with a source, an owner and a next action date, regardless of the channel it arrived on. That single change usually produces the fastest measurable revenue improvement of anything in this article.
The middle: the part you already do
Document collection, government stages, fees, approvals. This is the work your firm is known for, and it is covered in detail in our pieces on visa stage tracking and disbursement recovery. The only structural point worth repeating here is that it should sit on the same client record as the enquiry that produced it, so nothing has to be re-entered and no context is lost at handover.
The back end: the year of silence
Here is where the real money is. Once the licence is issued and the visas are stamped, most consultancies go quiet until the renewal. Twelve months of silence, during which the client's accountant, their bank and three competitors all speak to them.
That silence is not a relationship strategy, it is an absence of one. The clients you formed this year need corporate tax registration, possibly VAT registration, bookkeeping, additional visas, an office or flexi desk, an Ejari, and eventually a renewal. Every one of those is something you either provide or know someone who does.
Own the whole line
The consultancies growing fastest in the UAE are not the ones winning the most new licences. They are the ones who kept the client record alive after the licence was issued, so the second, third and fourth engagements arrived without a new sale.
That requires the enquiry, the setup file, the documents, the renewals and the invoices to be in one place rather than five. Not because integration is elegant, but because a relationship you cannot see is a relationship you will not service.
